About Shane Melanson:

Like many Canadian real estate investors, Shane started looking for a way to replace his 6 figure income. He moved to Calgary, AB, at 17 and got his BA in Economics. Shane's first real estate investment was in 2004, a 1943 war-time house with no basement or central heat.

When he started his real estate career, he was young and had no family yet, so working long hours and weekends didn't bother him.

Eventually, Shane built a small portfolio of single-family properties and was flipping homes — he figured this was the way to invest in real estate: buy undervalued residential houses, fix them up, and either rent or sell them.

Today, Shane is not retired (I still actively invest) because he loves it. Each property he invests in has the potential to earn a high 6 and generally 7 figures. He controls his schedule and loves what he does.
